ABOUT THE BOP

A black professional man with glasses in a blue shirt sitting in a modern office, using a red tablet, sunlight casting striped shadows through window blinds.

The BOP is a community for Black professionals, based in the UK and connected globally.

Many of us know what it feels like to walk into a room and be the only one there. Finding guidance or someone who understands the journey is not always easy.

The BOP exists to change that.

We bring together Black professionals across industries to share knowledge, build networks and open up new opportunities.

Our goal is simple. Make the knowledge, networks and opportunities that help careers grow easier to access.

At THE BOP, we are dedicated to ensuring that our opportunities are accessible to every member of the Black community, regardless of their background, gender, or socioeconomic status.

While our platform primarily serves as a safe space for Black and mixed heritage professionals, we warmly welcome and encourage the participation of individuals from outside the community who share our vision and values.

HEY JUDE.

I’ve had the privilege of spending 20 years in the corporate world, with 12 of those years on Apple’s marketing team. While I’m proud of the accomplishments I’ve achieved, there were times when I felt isolated and overlooked until I found a sense of community among my Black peers, both in and out of the workplace.

I was fortunate to have access to many inspiring Black leaders who helped me shape my own path to success. Through my role as a mentor and co-chair of an employee resource group, I came to realise that not everyone had the same opportunities, and I developed a deep passion for sharing the insights I had gained. Now, my focus is on empowering Black talent and making senior Black leaders more accessible. As a former charity director, trustee and mentor, I’m committed to uplifting others and building meaningful connections.

In 2025, I’ve launched my next big initiative: The Black Opportunities Platform (BOP) —a bold, engaging way to connect today’s Black leaders with tomorrow’s talent, while building a strong, thriving community along the way. And that’s why you’re here: to be part of this exciting movement.

My work also extends beyond The BOP. I run my own marketing and brand consultancy called Hey Jude. The name chose itself long before I did. It supports start ups, charities and purpose driven organisations that want thoughtful, strategic and human centred marketing.

The BOP is coming to life with events, a book, curated resources, an app and my blog Hey Jude, which you can read here. Want to get involved? Email heyjude@thebop.co.uk

There’s incredible power and talent in our community. The BOP is here to simply cultivate and bring it all together. We’re excited for what’s ahead.
